Lab Technician Job Description
The Lab Technician will perform chemical and instrumental analyses on fuels, oils, and other lubricants using standard testing methods as prescribed by ASTM. This role involves analyzing new samples, preparing solutions or solvents, transferring samples within the lab, and maintaining equipment and workbooks according to SOP and TIP test procedures.
Responsibilities- Conduct chemical and instrumental analyses on various samples using ASTM standards.
- Perform analyses on new samples introduced to the lab.
- Prepare solutions or solvents necessary for testing.
- Transfer samples within different areas of the laboratory.
- Maintain workbooks and laboratory equipment on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis following SOP and TIP procedures.
- Experience in a lab environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Ability to perform math calculations.
- Experience with sample preparation and washing glassware.
- Familiarity with basic lab safety.
Skills & Qualifications
- High School diploma required.
- One year of college chemistry and math or one year of related laboratory experience.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 50lbs.
- Recent associate degree in science or recent lab experience through school is a plus.
The work environment is an industrial lab setting focused on automotive product research. The lab operates on various shifts including 6am-3pm, 8am-5pm, and 3pm-11pm from Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided. The lab setting includes the presence of fuel and oil odors. Hands‑on training and shadowing are provided to ensure skill development.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of San Antonio, TX.
Pay and Benefits- Pay range: $15.50 - $15.50/hr.
