Immediately hiring CNC Machinists for a large manufacturing company in San Antonio; location on the north and south side.
Pay is up to $28/hr. based on experience
1st shift Mon-Thurs 7am-6pm, Fri 7am-3pm (northside location)
AM 12 hr. shift & PM 12 hr. shift (southside location)
Duties- Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math and proving part programs.
- Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating devices; tramming heads.
- Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
- Capable of running and setting up general-purpose machines (Milling, Drilling, and grinding), special-purpose machines, and CNC machines (VMC, HMC, Turning centers, CNC surface grinding machines) etc.
- Process knowledge of Hydro pneumatic presses and manual coining/tweaking.
- Knowledge in manual CNC programming and 2D and 3D program generation using Mastercam.
- Experience with small, machined parts (up to 150 grams).
- Knowledge in SPC, TPM, and poke yoke, kaizen, lean manufacturing, jigs and fixtures, and gauges design, GD&T etc.
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, the first item run part.
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools.
- Proves out and optimizes programs and fixtures for repeat parts.
- Troubleshoots and operates as needed across multiple machines.
- Familiar with use of automated vision systems and optical metrology equipment for dimensional inspection of small machined parts.
- Ensures & maintains all documents related to quality systems as per TS 16949 and ISO 9001 and other applicable standards.
- Detects malfunctions in machine operations such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Documents actions on production Work Orders and in-process inspections.
- Must be a Machinist and have at least 2-3 years of CNC Machinist experience in a manufacturing shop.
- Must have previous experience with Mazak mills and lathe machines (all axis).
- High school education and/or formal training through a vocational or technical school.
- Relevant machining certifications a plus.
- Ability to read blueprints and understand process specifications.
- Conceptual skills, process improvement, and verbal communications needed.
- Technical skills to include the ability to work with machine controls and instrumentation, tooling, coordination, inventory control.
- Attention to detail and good judgment.
- Intermediate computer skills, ability to use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
