Scaler

Summary

The Scaler is responsible for providing accurate measures and maintaining the integrity of raw ingredients that are required for the production of baked goods. The Scaler will be responsible for exercising Good Manufacturing Practices. The Scaler must be cross functional in Food Safety to be able to perform in any area needed in the plant.

• Uses Digital scales to weigh quantities of raw materials for use in the production process.
• Reads work order or formula to determine types and quantities of material to weigh.
• Places loose or packaged material on scales or removes portions of material to obtain specified weight.
• Sorts weight materials used for production.
• Records weight materials into designated bins or containers according to weight or type.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment.

• Ability to mechanically assemble parts
• Knowledge of equipment
• Proven ability to operate in a team environment.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent GED

• Good communication skills (written and verbal)
• Read the formulas correctly to ensure the product is correct
• Reading skills (5th grade level)
• Basic math skills (5th grade level)
  Ability to track and log measurements
• Ability to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions

• Mechanical aptitude
• Previous experience in food production industry
• Food Safety Certification
• Previous experience with bakery equipment

• Motivated self-starter

• Must be able to move a 1200 pound pallet with a manual pallet jack occasionally (approximately 3 times per day).
• Work hours in excess of forty (40) hours will be required.
