Job SummaryAre you ready to make a difference in the world of heavy machinery? Caterpillar in San Antonio, Texas is seeking a dynamic Quality Inspector I to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in exceeding production standards by providing comprehensive support for quality issues in our Quality Lab. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with quality managers and various departments to meet both customer and company needs, while focusing on elevating product quality, velocity, and cost-effectiveness through data analysis and effective problem-solving.

- Perform audits and carry out quality inspections to correct known defects
- Inspect parts and materials to ensure they are free from quality defects
- Perform torque audits, leak tests, and visual inspection on all engine components
- Assist in gauge calibrations
- Maintain safe and clean workstations
- Perform product cleanliness audits as required
- Learn and utilize quality software and databases
- Assist in servicing offsite, external customers as needed
- Communicate with the team about missed inspection items or customer concerns
- Identify and solve problems using Caterpillar Production Systems methods
- Deliver daily work assignments as directed by Production Managers and assist with special projects
- Communicate effectively within the team and across departments
- Adhere to standard operating procedures and area-specific instructions
- Occasionally participate in training and development
- Perform any other assigned duties
- Minimum of 6 months' experience in a machining, manufacturing, or warehouse environment or industry certification
- Ability to collaborate with different teams and departments
- Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- General knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and/or Power Point
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of products and assembly tools
- Previous experience with Standard Operating Procedures or Standard Work
- Ability to adhere to safety procedures
- Previous experience reading and interpreting part prints and/or schematics
- Intermediate experience navigating PLEX
- Proficient in gauging techniques (i.e. thread, height, micrometer, and paint thickness)
- Hands on experience assembling or repairing engines, engine components, and/or generators
- Lean manufacturing experience and/or Six-Sigma Certification
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to perform repetitive operations
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
