The Role

A Tamale Technician will be responsible for loading food products into stuffers and moving product from raw to finished goods. This position assists with the preparation, cooking, assembly, weighing, and packaging of products, along with documenting production numbers and operating basic machinery safely.

As a Tamale Technician, you will contribute to the team's efforts to achieve production efficiencies while adhering to company guidelines and following Health & Safety and Food Safety Programs. In this role, you will effectively support the company and its goals, as well as your team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follows daily line assignment as directed by supervisor or lead using simple tools and equipment and may include following recipe guidelines to assist with food preparation and cooking tasks
  • Ensure daily production is completed efficiently, on time and meets company quality standards
  • Update and maintain accurate production records, including math calculations, scan and update data in computer and digital scorecard
  • Load, pack, and seal products into cases and palletizes as needed
  • Inspects production goods, containers, and packaging materials to ensure they meet company standards
  • Demonstrate knowledge of kitchen health, safe food storage, and safety guidelines
  • Adheres to proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures by following company standards, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practice), maintaining temperature and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) logs as required
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, quality programs, and report any safety issues or unsafe conditions
  • Participate is safety training and keep work area safe and orderly through regular housekeeping
  • Train others, demonstrate best practices and willingness to adapt, grow and take on new responsibilities including rotating jobs and becoming certified on machinery
  • Ability to work independently and well with team members in a fast-paced environment, showing a teamwork attitude by respecting and supporting team members
  • Be dependable, punctual, and adhere to company attendance with regular attendance as an essential job function
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Conditions:

  • Tolerate extreme temperatures, wet and humid environments, and high noise levels while wearing protective devices
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and stand for extended periods, as well as walk, reach, bend, smell, listen, speak, and see in order to perform the essential job duties
  • Work around moving mechanical parts and frequently lift, push, and slide packages up to 50lbs (occasionally up to 70lbs)
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, effective time management, and adaptability in a fast-paced production environment
  • Read, write, understand simple instructions, and perform simple math calculations
  • Flexible to work extended days, weekends, and be available for call-backs.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent a plus or related experience
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and unit conversions
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English a plus
  • One year of previous tamale production and/or related experience necessary

Hourly Rate:
Pay is based on experience and starts at $14.50 an hour
