SHIFT/SCHEDULE:
This role operates on the 1st shift, with a schedule of 3-4 days per week (12-hour shift) rotating covering 7 days per week, 5:00 AM – 5:30 PM.
ONBOARDINGSCHEDULE:
To ensure a successful start and seamless integration into the team, this role includes a structured 4–5-day onboarding program, typically scheduled from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. All new employees are expected to complete this onboarding during their first week.
Job Summary:The Mechanic B is responsible for setting up and operating various types of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This role involves interpreting technical drawings, maintaining equipment, and ensuring quality control throughout the manufacturing process. The Senior Machinist also mentors junior machinists and collaborates with engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes.
Key Responsibilities:- Set up and operate CNC and manual machining equipment, including lathes, mills, and grinders.
- Interpret and analyze technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining processes and required tools.
- Conduct quality checks using precision measuring instruments to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues, making adjustments as necessary to maintain production efficiency.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, document sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Design and manufacture advanced work holding, jaws and fixtures.
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines as necessary to machine parts as required.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media according to established guidelines and procedures.
- Start and observe machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls as required.
- Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary through first article inspection process.
- Confers with design/engineers, assembly personnel, fabricators, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
