Job Title: Injection/Blow Molding Process Technician

Department: Process Engineering

Reports To: Process Engineer

Status: Onsite Hourly

Vacancy: 1 vacancy at Applewhite facility for 2nd shift ($1.00 shift differential). Monday-Friday 1:30 pm – 10:00 pm. (Added 6.1.2026)

Job Summary

An Injection/Blow Molding Process Technician’s primary job is to start up, monitor, program, and troubleshoot plastic injection‑molding machines and auxiliary equipment related to the injection molding process. This role requires specialized knowledge of materials, specific tools, and equipment. Troubleshooting tasks may involve inconsistent material, faulty equipment, human error, and preventing defects from occurring.

Responsibilities
  • Work a flexible schedule at nights, days, or as needed.
  • Problem‑solve proficiently.
  • Ensure injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and connected automated systems are set to regulatory parameters, meet quality standards, and achieve all production goals.
  • Set up and start up molding machines, read part prints, and use hand tools such as calipers to measure parts.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot processing problems, perform preventive maintenance tasks, and document process changes.
  • Understand and apply all aspects of scientific molding.
  • Reduce and reuse material scrap to protect the environment and save costs.
  • Maintain process logs/monitors in accordance with SWI’s.
  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude and demonstrate willingness to work as a team.
  • Identify and request mold repairs as needed.
  • Enter work orders into maintenance connection software.
  • Coordinate and—if necessary—escalate maintenance/processing issues promptly.
  • Follow escalation policy.
  • Perform start‑of‑shift walk‑through with outgoing/ongoing Process Technicians.
  • Coordinate 5S activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED.

Experience:

  • 2 years in a Mold Setter/Setup or similar role.
  • 5 years as a Process Technician on various brands of injection molding/blow molding machines.
  • Experience with automation equipment including Sepro, Whittman, and others.
  • Process knowledge of different resins such as polypropylene, nylon, PPO, acetal, etc.
  • Experience in an automotive JIT manufacturing environment preferred.

Certificates & Training:

  • RJG/Paulson training preferred.

Computer

Skills:

  • Intermediate level in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), email, and web browsing.

Mathematical & Analytical

Skills:

  • Intermediate-advanced math skills.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and critical thinking skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to understand and follow written technical procedures/instructions.
  • Ability to prepare business and technical documentation such as procedures, reports, presentations.

Communication

Skills:

  • Read, write, and speak English.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; strong interpersonal effectiveness; works well with all levels and across cultures.
  • Bilingual English‑Spanish preferred.

Other

Skills:

  • Effective organization and prioritization.
  • Strong attention to detail; manages multiple projects and tasks.
  • Takes initiative, approaches others positively, works independently to achieve results.

Physical Requirements:

  • 100% of time on the production floor performing job‑related tasks.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds individually and team lift 50 pounds.
  • Must perform the job safely in accordance with SOPs and wear required PPE.
  • Pass background check and drug screen.
