Summary
A Painter, VPC under the leadership of the Manager and the Foreperson, Body Shop, VPC will support the process to satisfy new and current customer demands for vehicles by providing the vehicles to dealers and customers that meet their demands. A Painter will
1) repaint damaged new vehicles to factory standard quality and
2) guide assigned painter’s helpers to prepare vehicles for painting in the body shop in the VPC of GST.
- Inspect vehicles to ensure it is properly prepared for repainting or two-tone painting.
- Prepare paint.
- Repaint vehicles to factory standards inside safe paint booths.
- Check completed work to ensure it meets quality standards.
- Report all mismatches and paint defects to management.
- Comply with all safety rules particularly those dealing with working in confined spaces or in service pits.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and safe storage room, mixing room, and working area.
- Use shop equipment and tools safely.
- Wear required personal protective equipment: breathing apparatus, clothing, footwear, gloves, masks, safety glasses, etc.
- Dispose of paints, paint containers, and any hazardous wastes properly.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to apply common sense.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Associate may work in a closed paint booth with high ambient temperatures.
