Industrial Engineer
The Industrial Engineer will optimize manufacturing processes in a heavy vehicle assembly plant to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure quality and safety. This role involves work measurement study, applying engineering principles, implementing lean manufacturing practices, and collaborating with cross functional teams to enhance productivity, minimize waste, and streamline resource utilization.
Roles and responsibilities include:
- Improve manufacturing systems and processes to improve production rates, efficiency, yield and cost reduction.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Analyze and evaluate existing manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to integrate new technologies and process improvements.
- Conduct work measurement study using MOST to determine labor requirements.
- Conduct time and motion studies to eliminate bottlenecks and recommend changes for productivity improvement.
- Conduct Method Improvement Ergonomics Improvement study.
- Develop standardized work procedures and maintain documentation.
- Develop and maintain clear and accurate documentation of process improvements.
- Design and develop machinery and equipment using engineering principles.
- Analyze production data to identify trends and optimize workflows.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles (5S, Kaizen, Kanban, VSM) to optimize operations for continuous improvement.
- Assist in setting production goals and monitor performance metrics to ensure objectives are met.
- Plan capacity and manage inventory control.
- Design efficient layouts using CAD and simulation tools.
- Lead projects for cost reduction, process improvement, and new product introduction.
- Train plant personnel on new processes and equipment.
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial or mechanical engineering (or related field).
- Minimum 3 year experience in manufacturing/assembly.
- MOST certification and documented experience of using MOST.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and ergonomic principles.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to sustain improvements.
- Familiarity with supply chain management and industry regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
- Experience in production planning and control.
- Basic programming knowledge.
- Exposure to automation and smart manufacturing technologies.
- Familiarity with MES and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of robotics and automation in assembly processes.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP).
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher).
