Lead Operator, Packaging - 2nd Shift

Responsibilities

• Assists in organizing the resources needed to meet the production schedule, quality, cost and safety objectives.
• Ensures the efficient operation of assigned production lines.
• Starts and stops production lines, corrects jams, and makes minor adjustments to the packaging equipment.
• Monitors the product for compliance with quality standards.
• Assists with maintaining inventory control of packaging materials, auditing materials received from the distribution center and reconciling materials after production is complete.
• Understands and operates the Statistical Process Control (SPC) system.
• Provides verification activities of critical packaging operations, including weights, torques, AQL checks and any other specified quality check.
• Performs in-process/finished product quality checks during packaging processes.
• Obtains samples for QC testing and stability.
• Determines the need to place material on QA hold and issues re-inspection, reprocess, or rework as directed by procedure.
• Ensures that all safety rules and regulations are followed.
• Maintains the packaging area in compliance with good housekeeping standards.
• Maintains a variety of forms and logs.
• Maintains First In-First Out as supplied from Materials Department.
• Can perform all duties of a Lead Operator Trainee, Line Operator I and II.
• Performs Material Handler duties when necessary.
• Assists in the training of temporaries and new employees to build a highly skilled, productive crew.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Minimum 10 to 12 years of related experience.
