Forklift Operator, Material Handler
Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate a forklift to load, unload, and move materials as directed by work orders and instructions.
- Transport materials to designated storage areas or production lines, ensuring proper placement on pallets, racks, or shelves.
- Conduct pre‑operational checks on the forklift to guarantee its proper functioning.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents or injuries while operating equipment.
- Assist in inventory management by recording incoming and outgoing materials, performing periodic physical counts, and reconciling discrepancies.
- Identify and report inventory shortages, damages, or discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.
- Support warehouse operations through picking, packing, and labeling as needed, collaborating with team members to ensure timely task completion.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse area to promote a safe working environment.
- Handle materials and products with care to prevent damage or contamination in a food manufacturing setting.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
- Report any quality issues, safety hazards, or non‑compliance incidents to supervisors immediately.
- Flexibly work overtime and non‑standard hours as required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and perform all other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience working in food manufacturing or a similar production environment (preferred).
- Proven experience operating a forklift in a warehouse or manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations (FSA, USDA) and quality assurance practices (GMPs).
- Knowledge of safety regulations and practices related to forklift operation and ability to obtain forklift certification.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform tasks such as standing, walking, kneeling, crawling, and twisting.

Working Conditions and Physical EffortWork involves daily and frequent exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, odors, darkness, and poor lighting. Seasonal exposure to extreme temperatures, wetness, and humidity may occur. Daily exposure to physical risks and hazards such as mechanical equipment, forklifts, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, fire, explosives, and communicable diseases is expected. The position requires the ability to stand, walk within the office, warehouse, and plant, lift and carry packages up to 50 pounds, and utilize fine dexterity while reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting.
CompensationA $1.50 differential is paid for hours worked between 6pm to 6am.
