Production Lead – 3rd Shift

The Production Lead (3rd shift) oversees and operates multiple pieces of production line equipment in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role leads the assembly and disassembly of production line equipment, coordinates labor on food production lines, and ensures adherence to safety, quality, and production procedures while working closely with supervisors and other leaders.

Responsibilities
  • Operate multiple pieces of production line equipment across different areas of the facility, as assigned on the 3rd shift.
  • Lead the assembly and disassembly of production line equipment to support changeovers, maintenance, and production needs.
  • Arrange and coordinate labor on food production lines to meet production schedules and efficiency targets, following direction from supervisors and managers.
  • Train production line employees on equipment operation, work processes, and standard procedures, ensuring they understand tasks and expectations.
  • Explain production line tasks clearly and answer questions from team members to support consistent and accurate work.
  • Document downtime, machine setting changes, and materials used during each production run in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with various levels of leadership regarding production status, issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Follow company safety, quality, and production procedures at all times and reinforce compliance among team members.
  • Support a fast-paced manufacturing environment by responding quickly to issues and helping maintain continuous production flow.
  • Supervise a team of approximately 10–30 production employees during the shift, providing guidance and direction to achieve shift goals.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing production experience within food manufacturing.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced production environment.
  • At least 6 months of experience in a leadership role such as team lead or line lead, supervising 10–30 employees.
  • Ability to operate and monitor production line equipment and machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to document downtime, machine setting changes, and materials used during production runs with accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with production staff and various levels of leadership.
  • Ability to train, coach, and answer questions from production line employees.
  • Ability to follow and enforce company procedures related to safety, quality, and production.
  • Experience in production supervision or production management in a manufacturing setting.
  • General production and machine operator skills applicable to a food manufacturing environment.

  • Experience as a production lead, line lead, or similar supervisory role in manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with production supervision practices and coordinating teams on the manufacturing floor.
  • Strong attention to detail when recording production data and equipment settings.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, managers, and cross-functional teams.

Work Environment

This role is based in a food manufacturing facility and is dedicated to the 3rd shift, working approximately 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with frequent interaction with machinery, production lines, and a team of 10–30 employees. Work is performed on the manufacturing floor, requiring attention to safety procedures and adherence to quality standards. The position involves operating and overseeing production equipment, participating in equipment assembly and disassembly, and working closely with supervisors and managers to maintain efficient operation.
