As the Development Director, you will lead and grow the organization’s fundraising efforts in support of its mission, programs, patients, and long-term sustainability. This position will provide leadership across a diverse fundraising strategy. As a faith-based, mission-driven organization dedicated to restoring sight and transforming lives, the work has a direct and tangible impact on the community. As I Care San Antonio continues to grow, this position offers a relationship-focused leadership role that combines strategic thinking with hands‑on fundraising implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fundraising Strategy & Development Planning: Develop, implement, and evaluate the annual fundraising strategy in alignment with organizational goals.
2. Major Gifts & Donor Engagement
Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective major gift donors.
Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects through the donor cycle.
Ensure timely, meaningful, and personalized donor communication and stewardship.
3. Annual Giving & Campaigns
Plan and execute annual giving campaigns, including goals, timelines, audiences, messaging, and outreach.
Develop and/or provide input on appeals, solicitation materials, and donor communications.
Analyze campaign results and identify opportunities to increase participation and revenue.
4. Donor Stewardship & Communications
Develop and maintain a comprehensive donor stewardship program.
Ensure accurate and timely gift acknowledgments and personalized communications.
Develop strategies to re‑engage lapsed donors and strengthen existing donor relationships.
Support leadership and board members with donor communications and relationship-building.
Lead fundraising event strategy, planning, execution, budgeting, logistics, and follow‑up.
Develop sponsorship opportunities and cultivate corporate and community partners.
Coordinate donor cultivation and stewardship.
6. Grants & Institutional Giving
Partner with the contracted grant writer and provide research.
Coordinate and provide grant application materials, including program data, budgets, outcomes, and organizational information.
Cultivate foundation and corporate funder relationships and track grant revenue, restrictions, and reporting requirements.
7. Donor Data, CRM & Reporting
Maintain accurate donor records, interactions, gift documentation, and prospect tracking in Neon One.
Ensure consistent gift entry, acknowledgments, reporting, and data management.
Coordinate with the bookkeeper on gift, pledge, and event revenue reconciliation.
Maintain donor confidentiality and data integrity.
8. Board & Leadership Engagement
Partner closely with the Executive Director on fundraising strategy.
Provide regular updates on fundraising performance, prospects, campaigns, grants, and opportunities.
Prepare leadership and board members for donor meetings, solicitations, presentations, and stewardship.
Equip and engage board members to participate effectively in fundraising and stewardship.
Performs additional responsibilities and tasks, as needed, to support the organization’s mission and operational needs.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field required.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in fundraising leadership.

Experience:
Demonstrated experience with donor cultivation, annual campaigns, major gifts, events, grant management, or other nonprofit fundraising activities.
Relationship Management: Proven ability to develop and maintain authentic, productive relationships with donors, community partners, volunteers, board members, and other stakeholders.
