Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Rio Texas Conference is investing in a new conference-level position to strengthen ministry with young people. Unlike a traditional Conference Youth Director focused primarily on planning events, this role will function as a connector, collaborator, and strategist supporting ministry already happening in local churches, camps, campus ministries, and districts while building relationships, developing young leaders, and encouraging faith formation across the Conference.

This is an opportunity for a ministry leader who is energized by connection, collaboration, and equipping others to help shape a conference-wide vision for ministry with young people.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Build relationships with District Superintendents, district leaders, local church staff and volunteers, campus ministries, camp leadership, young adults, and young people.

Coordinate collaborative leadership for conference-wide ministries such as Midwinter events, the Confirmation Rally, summer camps, and other regional gatherings.

Develop young leadersby identifying and equipping emerging leaders, creating pathways for leadership mentoring and vocational discernment, and supporting the Rio Texas Conference Youth Ministry Council as a representative voice and leadership community for young people.

Strengthen faith formation by nurturing lifelong discipleship among youth and young adults through coaching, training, and resource development for local churches and districts.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

A demonstrated Christian faith and commitment to the mission of The United Methodist Church.

Experience leading ministry with children, youth, young adults, or families.

Ability to build authentic relationships across diverse ministry contexts.

Strong organizational, communication, and facilitation skills, with experience developing volunteer leaders.

Willingness to travel throughout the Rio Texas Conference, including evenings and weekends as ministry requires.

Bachelor's degree required; theological education or equivalent ministry experience preferred.
