Shift InformationFull‑time, three 12‑hour shifts, day shift 7 am–7 pm.

The RN is responsible for assessing the needs of each patient on the unit and planning the nursing care needed to meet those needs—spiritual, emotional, physiological, and psychosocial. Once planned, the RN ensures the plan of care is carried out through performance and/or leadership of subordinate personnel. After the plan is implemented, the patient’s response is evaluated, both verbally and in writing.
RequiredEducation
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Preferred EducationBSN.
Required SkillsPatient care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Must communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Knowledge and ability to perform skills necessary for unit‑specific competencies, including age‑specific competencies.
Preferred SkillsAdvanced competencies as defined by demonstrated participation in formal Continuing Nursing Education activities.
Required Licensure/Registration/CertificationUnrestricted Texas license as a Registered Nurse and Basic Life Support.
Preferred Licensure/Registration/CertificationACLS and PALS.
Required ExperienceEligibility to participate in a new RN Preceptorship program.
Preferred ExperienceSix to twelve months of experience as an RN in an inpatient medical‑surgical setting.
