Summary

CHRISTUS Children’s, a world‑class 240‑bed freestanding children’s hospital in San Antonio, partners with Baylor College of Medicine to recruit and employ advanced practice providers. The Division of Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) in the Department of Pediatrics is seeking an advanced practitioner to provide high‑quality nursing care in the BMT program.

Job Purpose

Provide advanced nursing care to patients in the Bone Marrow Transplant setting under the direction of a physician.

Job Duties
  • Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations.
  • Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures in accordance with patients’ health concerns.
  • Prescribe appropriate pharmacological and non‑pharmacological treatments.
  • Maintain records and write orders and progress notes in patient charts reflecting status, treatments, and procedures.
  • Monitor and ensure accuracy of recording on patient medical records.
  • Provide follow‑up health maintenance care to patients in accordance with protocols established with the supervising physician.
  • Communicate with physicians, patients, and family members regarding patient care.
  • Collaborate with providers and practice staff in identifying appropriate patients for care management.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:

    Master’s degree in Nursing.
  • Experience:

    None required.
  • Licensure:
    Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN‑NP) licensure in Texas and specialty certification required by the department.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
