The Division of Child Abuse, Department of Pediatrics, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is recruiting for an academic faculty position as Assistant or Associate Professor/Clinical to fill a full-time position. Academic rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. We are seeking recent graduates and/or experienced physicians who are BC/BE in Child Abuse Pediatrics to work alongside our multidisciplinary team of three child abuse pediatricians and a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner.
The selected candidate will be responsible for evaluating children and adolescents who are suspected victims of abuse and /or neglect including inpatient and outpatient assessments, as well as providing case consultations and court testimony, teaching fellows, residents and medical students, and collaborating with community agencies and investigators.
The Division of Child Abuse Pediatrics at UT Health San Antonio is at the forefront of education, research and advocacy in the emerging field of Child Maltreatment and our faculty have served as leaders of numerous professional organizations including the American Academy of Pediatrics Council on Child Abuse and Neglect, the American Board of Pediatrics, and the Texas Pediatric Society (AAP Texas state chapter).
We serve a culturally and demographically diverse patient population, evaluating over 3,000 children each year for suspected abuse and neglect. As a member of our team, you will join our faculty in evaluating patients at three large children’s hospitals, in our outpatient clinic (the CHRISTUS Children’s Center for Miracles) and through an innovative statewide online consultation program.
