Job Description
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations and report to the Plasma Center Manager.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Manage donor adverse events and review laboratory test results; notify donors of unsuitable results.
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including developing Center Physician's standing orders and arranging donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical issues concerning donor safety and eligibility.
- Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats.
- High school diploma or equivalent; graduate program in a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified: LPN or LVN in the state of assignment.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
Hourly wage range: $24.32 – $33.44 per hour.
