About the RoleThis is a distinctive opportunity for Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to gain experience working in a government healthcare setting, providing essential health care services within a multidisciplinary team. The role involves ambulatory, emergency, mental health, and infirmary care, enhancing professional skills while serving a critical mission.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct care to patients within scope of practice.
- Administer medications through various routes as ordered.
- Conduct prescreening and intake screening using established tools.
- Execute treatments such as wound care and electrocardiograms as ordered.
- Collect laboratory specimens and perform point‑of‑care testing.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide stabilization care.
- Support other healthcare professionals with patient data and education.
- Participate in involuntary, court‑ordered care if required.
- Graduate from a Vocational/Practical Nurse program approved by a state, District of Columbia, or U.S. territory.
- Minimum of one‑year experience in a hospital, medical office, or outpatient clinical setting.
- Maintain a current, full, and unrestricted LVN/LPN license by the state.
- Maintain BLS for Healthcare Providers certification through the American Heart Association.
- Experience in detention/correctional or residential healthcare setting.
- Certified Correctional Health Professional or Certified Corrections Nurse credential.
- Verbal and written proficiency in Spanish.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic and treatment equipment.
- Ability to work in a multicultural and multilingual environment.
- Skill in navigating electronic health records and communication systems.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality regulations.
