The post-acute Charge Nurse leads the daily clinical operations of the dialysis treatment floor. Serves as the on-site clinical leader for the dialysis program within the Skilled Nursing Facility when the Area Manager is not present, ensuring safe operations, regulatory compliance, and high-quality patient care. May supervise other clinical staff to ensure safe, quality, and efficient care is being delivered. Responsible for completing daily assignments to ensure the safe, efficient, and quality care of the patients.
In the post-acute dialysis setting, the Charge Nurse plays a key leadership role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the dialysis program within the Skilled Nursing Facility.
The Charge Nurse is expected to- Serve as the on-site clinical leader of the dialysis program during assigned shifts.
- Provide clear direction and clinical guidance to dialysis technicians and other assigned staff.
- Promote accountability and adherence to Rendevor Dialysis policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Maintain strong communication and collaboration with Skilled Nursing Facility nursing staff and leadership.
- Identify operational or clinical concerns early and elevate issues appropriately to the Area Manager or leadership team.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, patient safety, and continuous quality improvement.
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school or equivalent
- Current state license as a registered nurse
- Current CPR certification
- 18 months of clinical nursing experience to patients on maintenance dialysis within the last 24 months.
- One-year of clinical dialysis experience required
Competencies:
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding
- Strong technical/computer proficiency with laptops, tablets, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, etc.
- Responsible for daily clinical activity on the treatment floor. Reports to and works closely with the area manager or director.
- Reviews daily assignments for all staff on the treatment floor to ensure proper, safe, efficient, and quality treatment and care of patients.
- Provides clinical leadership and direction to dialysis technicians and other assigned staff during dialysis operations. Ensures staff follow established policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Performs thorough patient assessments as evidenced by documentation and feedback to their manager and/or nephrologist as needed.
- Recognizes changes in patient status while on dialysis and makes necessary adjustments to treatment. Appropriately responds to all emergencies, notifies the nephrologist when necessary and seeks direction, and obtains orders.
- Draws upon professional nursing knowledge to set appropriate priorities for patient care. Consistently reviews and evaluates priorities as changes occur and conveys these priorities to appropriate staff members.
