American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Oncology unit (8S) position requiring 5+ years of experience, active TX RN licensure, and hands‑on oncology skills including mediport, PICC, and central line management.
Requirements- Active TX RN license required; compact license accepted only if TX is the primary state — temporary licenses are not accepted
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- ONC (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification required
- Minimum 5 years of RN experience required
- Oncology nursing experience required
- Hands‑on experience with mediports, PICCs, and central lines required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- Work in an inpatient Oncology unit (8S) at an acute care hospital in San Antonio, TX
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Rotating weekend requirement
- 36‑hour workweek with 12‑hour shifts
- Floating to other units is required per facility floating policy
- No on‑call requirements
- EMR:
Meditech (experience preferred) - Procedures performed include chemotherapy administration, central line and mediport access, lab draws, blood product transfusions, and CHG baths with central line dressing changes
- 13‑week contract
- Chemotherapy certification is preferred
- Meditech EMR experience is preferred
- Administer chemotherapy and manage oncology patients receiving blood product transfusions and central line therapies
- Perform central line dressing changes and CHG baths following unit protocols
- All travelers are required to float per the Methodist floating policy, which will be discussed during the interview
- Dress code:
Navy scrubs required for RNs - Hair must be neat and clean with no extreme styles or colors; beards and facial hair must be neatly trimmed
- Visible body art should be covered whenever possible; visible piercings other than ears are prohibited
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible, no exceptions
- First‑time travelers are not explicitly addressed; the 5‑year experience requirement applies
