Job Description
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations by determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable results. The role works under the guidance of the Center Manager, Assistant Manager, and Center Physician for medical issues. Familiarity with plasma collection regulations and manufacturing environment is required, along with adherence to Bio Life Medical Affairs guidance and EHS procedures.
Howyou will contribute
- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, medical history interview, physical exam, blood testing, and reviewing serological tests.
- Evaluate donor reactions using SOPs and coordinate medical emergencies, including issuing standing orders and arranging emergency transport.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation by occupational health or emergency response.
- Serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of local community pandemic threats.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate-level nursing program with state requirements.
- Current license or certification in the state of assignment (EMT-Paramedic).
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- State requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA-approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

U.S. Hourly Wage Range$24.32 - $33.44 per hour
