Overview

Texas Oncology is looking for a Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position will support the Medical Oncology Department at our San Antonio, TX location. It is a full‑time Monday‑Friday position (8:30 am–5 pm) with no weekends, call or major holidays.

Long‑Term Incentive Plan (LTIP)

The LTIP is an incentive program that typically vests over a three‑year period and is tied to individual performance and the operational success of Texas Oncology. Awards are discretionary, based on position and performance, and reviewed during the annual compensation review. LTIP awards are governed by the written terms and conditions of the LTIP document and require continued employment through the award payment date.

Responsibilities

Under general supervision, the RN provides professional nursing care for patients in accordance with national and company standards and guidelines, recognizes the physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of care, and participates in company‑wide quality initiatives. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
  • Assess health status by interviewing patients about current status and medical history.
  • Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and instructional materials.
  • Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
  • Facilitate clinical operations and patient care.
  • Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record the information in the patient chart.
  • Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre‑testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals, and future appointments for patients.
  • Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient chart.
  • As necessary, facilitate communication between patient/family and the interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care.
  • Assist patients in locating available community resources.
  • Collaborate professionally with other team members.
  • Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education (BSN preferred).
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience.
  • Willingness to consider entry, mid, or senior level candidates.
  • Current RN state license with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Physical Requirements

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to a normal range.
