Work under the supervision of physicians and management team to care for patients within the CCIR department; complete procedures with CCIR and Radiology keeping patient safety as the focus; communicate with physicians regarding patient conditions, needs, and care plans; assist physicians and technologists as requested. Provide direct patient care to adult through geriatric patient population. Address psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Interventional Radiology Department.
Communicate with physicians on a regular basis and as needed about patient condition. Assist with maintenance of equipment and inventory. Assess procedure room for equipment functioning and readiness. Obtain supplies for individual cases and ensure all appropriate pre‑procedure documentation is accurate and reflects the procedure to be performed. Monitor, position, and assist patient during procedure. Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
Education
Graduate of accredited school of nursing
Preferred EducationBachelor of Science in Nursing
Required Skills- Strong organizational, interpersonal relationship, decision‑making and patient care skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, positioning, techniques, and both radiation protection and safety standards.
- Excellent venipuncture skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to determine when physician intervention is necessary.
- Ability to prepare and recover patient pre, intra, and post‑procedure in Radiology and CCIR departments.
- Ability to deviate from normal techniques when necessary to develop new and better techniques to keep the department up to date.
Texas license as a Registered Nurse. Certified in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Preferred Licensure/Registration/Certification- Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN)
- Cardio‑Vascular Certified RN (CVRN)
One year experience as an RN in a hospital critical care unit.
Preferred ExperienceGreater than two years’ experience as a critical care nurse.
