Job Description
As a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse), you will support the operations of the Plasma Center under the guidance of the Center Manager and Physician. Your responsibilities will include the following:
- Determine donor eligibility; manage informed consent, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions that occur at the facility and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician’s standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when findings require medical or technical guidance concerning donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER, referencing EHS guidance.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist with investigations of local pandemic threats within the community.
- Assist with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) support per Bio Life Medical Affairs guidance.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or completion of a recognized nursing program meeting state requirements.
- Current license/certification in the state of assignment (LPN or LVN).
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- State license for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of clinical or hospital experience.
U.S. hourly wage range: $24.32 – $33.44.
