Summary:
Vighter is recruiting a Registered Nurse (RNs) Oncology Navigator to provides exceptional patient care at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. The RN provides the full range of nursing services within the scope of practice for a variety of patient-centered specialties and ensures that all JCO standards for care are met during performance of patient care. RNs provide complex and comprehensive professional nursing services within the professional scope of practice for a variety of diagnoses for patients of all ages.

Principal Accountabilities:
Serve as an oncology nursing consultant/subject matter expert for BAMC.
Provide direct and follow-up care to oncology patients, including monitoring and managing complex issues (chemotherapy side effects, comorbidities, psychosocial concerns).
Provide individualized assistance to patients, families, & caregivers throughout the cancer continuum assisting patients to navigate through the healthcare system, addressing barriers to care.
Provide education and resources to facilitate informed decision-making.
Actively manage patients referred to civilian networks; collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Participate in multidisciplinary discharge planning and case management. Assist with preparation for and follow-up from Tumor Boards.
Develop and update patient education materials, including Survivorship Care Plans. Participate in conferences and boards regarding continuity of care.
Provide supportive therapy, counseling, and guidance to patients and families. May be designated to serve as team lead and provide orientation to other nurses.
In-depth knowledge of cancer, treatments, and side effects. Provide emotional support to patients and families.
Ability to manage multiple patients and coordinate care and identify and address barriers to care.
Have a strong understanding of insurance, referrals, and community resources.

Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

Education:
An associate's degree in nursing is required.
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited university is preferred.
A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited university is preferred.
