Responsibilities
  • Supervise and provide nursing care in accordance with physician orders and recognized nursing techniques, procedures, standards, and administrative policies.
  • Perform duties related to pre‑admission, admission, and discharge of residents.
  • Manage medication regime including acceptance of physician’s orders, transcribing orders, ordering medications, and ensuring medications are on hand.
  • Ensure medical supplies are accessible; communicate need for additional supplies in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a safe environment for residents.
  • Supervise Health Support Assistants (HSA) and ensure they provide appropriate care for residents.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Committees and assigned tasks.
  • Communicate with family members, providing information about residents’ care and condition, as well as with physicians, other staff, support services, and outside agencies.
  • Record all pertinent information including observations, treatments, and medications on the resident Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and keep Supervisor informed of any adverse changes in resident condition.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Must be an LVN in good standing with the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CPR and AED certifications; current CEUs required for licensure.
  • Demonstrate use of and train others in the use of professional nursing equipment and supplies.
  • Preferred:
    Additional education beyond the minimum nursing licensure level, including training in supervision and infection control.
  • Preferred:
    At least one year of experience in a long‑term care setting.
