We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide professional nursing services within a high-acuity Burn Center at a major Department of Defense medical facility in San Antonio. Previous Burn Center/Burn ICU experience is NOT required. Candidates with strong Adult Medical-Surgical Telemetry or equivalent acute-care nursing experience are encouraged to apply. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Med-Surg/Telemetry RNs to expand their clinical skills into specialized burn care.
The facility is the Department of Defense's largest inpatient hospital and only Level I Trauma Center, providing care in a fast-paced environment alongside military, civilian, and contract healthcare professionals.
- Provide direct nursing care to inpatient burn and high-acuity patients
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor for changes in condition
- Provide care within your RN scope of practice and established facility policies
- Monitor and respond appropriately to telemetry patients
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team
- U.S. Citizen
- Current, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license from any U.S. state, District of Columbia, U.S. territory, or U.S. jurisdiction
- Minimum Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN);
Nursing degree must be from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program - Ability to provide an official nursing school transcript for federal credentialing
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS or ALS certification
- At least 1 full year of RN experience in an Adult Medical-Surgical Telemetry Unit or equivalent
- At least 2 years of full-time clinical nursing experience within the last 4 years
- Strong knowledge and experience with telemetry monitoring
- Ability to successfully complete all required federal credentialing, background/security, occupational-health, and onboarding requirements
Please note:
Burn Unit experience is not required. The required clinical experience is based on Adult Med-Surg Telemetry or equivalent nursing experience. ACLS/ALS is specifically required for healthcare workers assigned to the Burn Center.
This is a 24/7 inpatient operation requiring rotating 12-hour shifts. Day Shift: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM Night Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM Sunday through Saturday coverage Day and night shift availability required Up to approx 36-40 hours per week Rotating schedule that may include days, nights, weekends, and federal holidays.
