Job Description

A commitment to customer service and quality is expected, and you will report to the Plasma Center Manager while performing as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations.
About the roleYou will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) for operational guidance and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. Familiarity with plasma collection industry regulations or a similar manufacturing environment is required, and you will follow guidance provided by Bio Life Medical Affairs and deliver center‑level support for environmental, health and safety (EHS).
Howyou will contribute
- Determine donor eligibility, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions that occur at the facility as outlined in the SOPs, and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including donor transport to emergency care facilities and the development of center physician standing orders.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when unacceptable findings occur or when medical or technical guidance is needed concerning donor safety or eligibility.
- Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health or ER, applying EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
- Serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats in the local community as directed by EHS or Medical Affairs.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Current license or certification in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT‑Paramedic.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Successful completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $24.32 - $33.44
The estimated hourly wage range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered may vary based on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, or other factors and will comply with state or local minimum wage requirements.
