ICU Virtual Care RN – On-Site

Provide real-time clinical decision support to patients, nurses, and bedside teams
Communicate with patients and healthcare providers via videoconferencing and desktop computers, tablets, and mobile devices
Conduct video monitoring and virtual assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs
Collaborate in patient multidisciplinary rounds
Escalate concerns to the care team using clinical decision-making skills
Participate in real-time quality and patient safety surveillance
Provide patient and family education and support
Evaluate patient outcomes and modify care plans accordingly
Participate in patient admission and discharge activities, including documenting patient history, medication reconciliation, discharge planning, and discharge instructions
Support development and implementation of patient care plans with the healthcare team
Conduct post-discharge follow-up phone calls
Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

• Five (5) years of ICU experience
• Bachelor's of Science in Nursing required
• Current Texas Board of Nursing (or Compact State) RN license, or Temporary Texas RN License with permanent Texas license within 90 days upon hire
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 7 days of hire
• Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English
• Skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job
• Therapeutic communication skills
• Strong assessment, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to function independently and exercise judgment with physicians, interprofessional care teams, patients, and families
• Critical thinking skills and clinical judgment to work autonomously as defined by the Nurse Practice Act
• Ability to plan care using the nursing process
• Ability to provide expert peer review
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48
• Prior experience related to telemedicine preferred

Demonstrates expertise in clinical decision support, patient assessment, and care planning, with a strong emphasis on therapeutic communication and critical thinking. Proficient in telemedicine practices and maintaining patient confidentiality while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
