TitleLicensed Veterinary Technician – Emergency (Full‑time, San Antonio, TX)
About YouAs an LVT, you’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey. Your work ranges from facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to surgery assistance and supporting services such as admitting and discharging patients.
Role Responsibilities- Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
- Assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
- Triage emergency patients.
- Monitor hospitalized patients.
- Perform patient laboratory tests and nursing care.
- Assist with surgeries and procedures.
- Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
- Maintain relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
- Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
- Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
- Guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
- Other tasks as assigned.
- 2+ years experience. LVT required.
- Exceptional technical skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, radiographic positioning, drug calculations, and administration of medications and fluids.
- Ability to handle, lift, and restrain animals (dogs, cats, pocket pets, etc.) and stand for long periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology.
- Organizational and computer skills.
- Flexibility to work weekends, overnights, and holidays.
