Quality Control Manager
The Quality Control (QC) Manager is directly responsible for the execution of on‑site construction engineering activities and the implementation of required quality control systems for federal government projects. The QC is the key personnel in determining acceptance or rejection of all work in progress and completed work activities. The manager must be able to oversee the quality of construction projects, ensure all work meets the standard of contractual obligations, verify that all materials received for the project meet project and company needs, and prepare quality control reports on a daily basis to submit to a contracting officer.
The role requires managing multiple projects concurrently across states, inspecting construction sites, identifying issues or inaccuracies, and maintaining quality service and support. Key focus is on delivering and executing work in a positive, professional manner. Customer satisfaction is the measure of our success.
- Implement and maintain the Quality Control Program to ensure all work is performed in accordance with plans, specifications, and the approved Quality Control Plan.
- Establish quality procedures, standards, and specifications.
- Review all QC issues with Operations at all stages of construction.
- Review close‑out processes to confirm all quality issues have been inspected and resolved.
- Facilitate establishment of a project‑specific quality control plan with the project team.
- Monitor contract documents for discrepancies as work is installed and notify appropriate persons of conflicts.
- Facilitate subcontractor pre‑work meetings with support from the project team.
- Coordinate with the project team to schedule timely testing and certification of all building systems prior to turn‑over of the project to the owner.
- In conjunction with the Project Manager, aggressively manage the project schedule to ensure all project deadlines are achieved.
- Perform daily quality control inspections of all work in progress to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Conduct surveys to identify customer requirements and ensure they are being met by established quality standards.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors for all material submittals requiring approval from either the designer and/or owner; review and approve all submittals for contract compliance and submit to the approving authority.
- Prepare and submit detailed Daily Quality Control Reports.
- Coordinate all testing requirements for materials, factory tests, and manufacturer certifications.
- Maintain accurate records of all quality control operations, activities, testing, and inspections performed on site.
- Maintain accurate As‑Built drawings on a weekly basis.
- Minimum of 5 years of Quality Control experience, with government quality control experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or equivalent combination of training and experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of acceptable construction site practices, including occupational safety and health regulations.
- Experience in DoD project protocols.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with internal and external clients and co‑workers.
- Thorough working knowledge of plans and specifications or project scope of work and Quality Control requirements.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain base access.
- CPR/First Aid (Preferred).
- US Air Force construction quality management (Preferred).
- OSHA 30 (Preferred).
- Familiar with the requirements of EM 385‑1‑1 and experience in hazard identification, safety compliance, and sustainability.
- Understands the sequencing of work.
- Proven track record of meeting production, quality, and customer service standards in a fast‑paced construction environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, and Word; aptitude and willingness to learn other management software programs, including Procore.
- Physical ability to oversee project activities as related to the position, including travel to project sites.
- Strong work ethic and leadership capabilities; commitment to excellence for safety, schedules, quality, and procurement.
- Understanding of federal DoD government contracting requirements.
