Summary:

Reporting to the Senior QA Manager, the QA Manager ensures that all products meet or exceed quality, food safety, and regulatory standards. This role supports and drives continuous quality improvement initiatives across quality control and quality assurance functions.

Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 3+ years managing Quality and Food Safety operations, preferably in a sous-vide or food manufacturing environment
  • At least 2+ years of experience managing QA/QC teams
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field
  • SQF Practitioner certification preferred
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to food quality and safety, ensuring clear communication with QA and Production teams.
  • Perform daily quality control activities in accordance with established procedures.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards while maintaining high-quality sous-vide products.
  • Support audits conducted by regulatory agencies (USDA, FDA, Health Department, etc.), third-party auditors, and customers.
  • Lead implementation and maintenance of SQF Food Safety and Quality systems, ensuring ongoing effectiveness through validation and verification.
  • Maintain HACCP-based food safety plans; ensure proper training and execution of HACCP principles.
  • Conduct inspections of incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products.
  • Support calibration and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Lead nonconformance investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Investigate customer complaints and internal quality issues; perform root cause analysis and ensure effective resolution.
  • Review production and quality records to confirm corrective actions are completed.
  • Allocate team resources based on workload to ensure consistent coverage of QA responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations, customer requirements, and BRC standards; conduct internal audits to identify and close gaps.
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal teams, including Sales, when needed.
  • Prepare for and lead customer and regulatory audits.
  • Maintain and update quality systems, documentation, and HACCP programs.
  • Oversee prerequisite programs such as maintenance, supplier approval, pest control, sanitation, environmental monitoring, product testing, and allergen control.
  • Supervise QA staff, including training, performance evaluation, task auditing, and ongoing coaching.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
