Food Safety & QA Manager

This is a high-impact role at one of America's most iconic restaurant brands that has been feeding Texas with pride since 1950. As FSQA Manager for Proteins, you'll sit at the intersection of food safety, supplier performance, and brand integrity, owning the programs that keep protein products safe, compliant, and consistently excellent from supplier to restaurant.

• Lead FSQA programs for protein suppliers, ensuring full alignment with company standards and federal/state/local regulations
• Review third-party audit results and regulatory inspection reports; assess risk and own corrective action plans through to resolution
• Conduct supplier audits, product reviews, and sampling activities to verify ongoing food safety and quality compliance
• Partner directly with suppliers to strengthen sanitation practices, GMPs, HACCP programs, and food safety culture
• Build and maintain accurate product specifications and quality requirements across protein categories
• Support new and reformulated product commercialization from a food safety and quality lens
• Serve as the FSQA bridge between suppliers, Operations, Product Development, Category Management, and Risk
• Investigate food safety incidents and illness claims in close collaboration with Operations and Risk Management
• Monitor and interpret regulatory changes; support responses to regulatory authorities as needed
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to FSQA team members and project teams

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Safety, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years in food safety and quality assurance; ideally in proteins, food manufacturing, or restaurant supply chain
• Deep working knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, FDA Retail Food Code, and regulatory compliance requirements
• Proven experience managing supplier FSQA programs and third-party audit processes
• Strong risk assessment instincts and a track record of driving effective corrective actions
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence without direct authority
• Clear, confident communicator – able to translate complex technical findings for diverse audiences
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

• Professional certifications: CPFS, REHS, HACCP, PCQI, SQF, BRC, GFSI, or equivalent
• Direct experience working with protein suppliers and processing environments
• Background in product commercialization and specification development
• Experience leading or mentoring team members and juggling multiple projects
• Familiarity with restaurant supply chain operations and large-scale retail food systems

This role is based in San Antonio, TX. You'll work onsite Monday through Thursday with remote flexibility on Fridays. Occasional travel to supplier sites, properties, and external meetings is expected. Candidates must be within commuting distance of the San Antonio office.
