Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support laboratory testing and analysis of fuels, oils, lubricants, and other petroleum products. This position is responsible for performing standardized laboratory testing, documenting results, assembling and disassembling test equipment, and supporting laboratory operations while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and able to follow established testing procedures and written instructions. No prior laboratory experience is required, as training will be provided.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform friction, wear, and viscosity testing on fuels, oils, lubricants, and other petroleum products using standardized laboratory procedures and Test Inspection Procedures (TIPs).
  • Assist with laboratory testing activities while following established testing methods and quality procedures.
  • Assemble and disassemble laboratory test fixtures and equipment.
  • Accurately document testing activities, observations, and laboratory results.
  • Develop an understanding of tribology testing through hands-on training and collaboration with experienced laboratory personnel.
  • Support project leaders and technical staff with laboratory testing activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions while adhering to laboratory safety procedures.
  • Assist with additional laboratory duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • No prior laboratory experience required; training will be provided.
  • Related technical certifications or vocational coursework are preferred but not required.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to accurately document testing activities and maintain laboratory records.
  • Good communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mechanical aptitude or hands-on technical experience.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, production, mechanical, or technical environments.
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of testing equipment or mechanical assembly.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Lift up to 15 pounds unassisted and heavier items with assistance when needed.
  • Assemble and disassemble laboratory test fixtures and equipment.
  • Perform repetitive tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed safety shoes.

Work Environment:

  • Laboratory environment supporting tribology and petroleum product testing.
  • Occasional exposure to noise levels above 85 dB.
  • Safety-sensitive position requiring strict adherence to laboratory safety procedures.
  • Occasional operation of company vehicles (golf cart) on campus.
  • Shift work may be required based on operational needs.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment background screening and drug screening.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Schedule

Monday – Friday

8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Dress Code: Company uniform and laboratory coat provided.
