OCI Energy is a respected utility‑scale PV and battery energy storage developer, owner, and operator. We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Quality Control Lead to support on‑site construction and commissioning activities for a large‑scale BESS project.

This position offers hands‑on field exposure, cross‑functional collaboration, and growth opportunities within a fast‑paced project environment.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision by the Project Manager, the Quality Control Lead supports the execution of project quality management systems for utility‑scale battery energy storage projects. This role is responsible for field inspections, verification of installation quality, documentation control, non‑conformance tracking, and coordination with engineering, construction, and vendors to ensure compliance with contract requirements, applicable codes, safety standards, and manufacturer specifications.

The Quality Control Lead plays a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant installation and commissioning of BESS equipment.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist Project Manager to ensure that the main contractor’s HSE plan is being implemented and report any non‑conformance
  • Perform routine field inspections and audits of BESS construction, inspection processes, quality action plans, safety systems to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and installation standards.
  • Verify implementation of the Project Quality Plan, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, and turnover documentation throughout construction and commissioning phases.
  • Identify, document, and track non‑conformance reports (NCRs), punch list items, and corrective actions. Coordinate with construction teams, subcontractors, vendors, and engineering to ensure timely resolution aligned with project schedule milestones.
  • Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed equipment, components and processes.
  • Support supplier and vendor quality activities including review of manufacturing documentation, factory acceptance test (FAT) reports, shipping inspections, and site acceptance testing (SAT) documentation as applicable.
  • Review and provide quality input on RFIs, submittals, field change requests, installation procedures, commissioning plans, and work packages.
  • Validate installation quality and workmanship through photographic documentation, inspection reports, and as‑built verification.
  • Collect and analyze quality metrics, trends, and lessons learned related to defects, rework, equipment issues, and process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate quality records including inspection reports, test results, turnover packages, and compliance documentation in project document management systems.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Safety, and Project Manager to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, OSHA, local AHJ requirements, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Participate in daily field walks, coordination meetings, and safety briefings to maintain alignment with construction sequencing and risk mitigation.
  • Support commissioning readiness by verifying completion of inspections, test documentation, and closeout packages prior to energization and handover.
  • Verify that all field construction activities are executed in accordance with the latest approved IFC drawings, specifications, and revision controls.
  • Attend daily toolbox talks and coordination meetings with contractors and subcontractors to confirm work is being performed in compliance with contract requirements, approved design documents, safety protocols, and installation standards.
  • Identify, document, and report any installation practices, materials, or workmanship that do not comply with manufacturer installation guidelines, project specifications, or applicable codes, and support corrective action resolution.
  • Verify calibration certificates are current and available for all inspection and testing equipment and tools utilized onsite.
