Job Description
Parsons is seeking a Research Scientist III to support Naval Medical Research Unit – San Antonio (NAMRU-SA) and its collaborating institutions in the conduct of advanced research in Combat Casualty Care and Operational Medicine, Craniofacial Health and Restorative Medicine, and Directed Energy. NAMRU-SA’s mission is to improve survival, operational readiness, and safety of DoD personnel engaged in routine and expeditionary operations.
The Research Scientist III will provide expertise in the development and conduction of protocol‑driven scientific research addressing various aspects of military medicine, including trauma, hemorrhage and resuscitation, immunomodulation, directed energy health effects, and craniofacial health and trauma. The role involves supervising and guiding junior scientists, managing research data, and performing complex surgical procedures on animal models.
What You'll Be Doing- Provide expertise in the development and conduction of protocol‑driven scientific research addressing various aspects of military medicine, including trauma, hemorrhage and resuscitation, immunomodulation, directed energy health effects, and craniofacial health and trauma.
- Supervise and guide junior scientist contract personnel in writing Government‑approved, protocol‑driven research proposals, animal use protocols, human use protocols, technical reports, final reports, and peer‑reviewed manuscripts.
- Provide guidance to junior scientist contract personnel on the evaluation of data, development of presentation materials, and writing of Government‑approved SOPs for research under contract, and presenting findings at technical and professional meetings.
- Supervise contract personnel during the preparation of experimental subjects and aid in the training and development of experimental subjects for experimental procedures in accordance with approved animal or human use protocols.
- Provide support in the development and establishment of in vivo and in vitro model systems, data acquisition, and data analysis.
- Oversee contract personnel associated with research projects; manage research data.
- Perform surgical procedures on animal models for both survival and non‑survival.
- PhD or other doctorate in a related field, plus seven (7) years’ relevant experience.
- Expertise in protocol‑driven scientific research and supervision of junior scientists.
- Proficiency in writing research proposals and developing presentation materials.
- Strong skills in preparing and conducting experimental procedures in accordance with approved protocols.
- Excellent management skills for overseeing contract personnel and managing research data.
