The Research Data Analyst, Child Welfare is responsible for performing data analysis using statistical techniques, researching and analyzing information from various foster care and educational databases, and creating reports on data and results. This role gathers and analyzes data from various databases and sources, performs statistical and/or mathematical programming, develops reports and visual representations, develops and/or maintains databases, and provides consultation and technical assistance.
This is a grant-funded position, which may be extended or shortened based upon availability of funds and/or work.
Core Responsibilities- Manages, reformats, enters, edits, merges, and maintains data in preparation for analysis.
- Analyzes data using statistical or mathematical software to generate descriptive statistics and develop statistical models and graphics.
- Reviews statistical output for consistency and quality.
- Assists in the development and implementation of evaluation plans.
- Collects, analyzes, and interprets data to evaluate program activities and components.
- Conducts thorough evaluations of research training programs.
- Communicates statistical results to supervising faculty or staff.
- Utilizes system reports and analyses to identify potentially problematic data, makes corrections, and determines root causes for data problems from input errors or inadequate field edits, and suggests possible solutions.
- Disseminates research findings through written reports and/or presentations at meetings and conferences.
- Supervises and mentors graduate students when preparing reports, manuscripts, and briefs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Three (3) years of experience collecting, managing, and analyzing data in SPSS, SAS, or R.
- Must maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
- Experience working in complex, longitudinal datasets.
- Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Demography, Statistics, or other related field.
- Advanced data analytic skills (e.g., structural equation modeling, growth curve modeling, and longitudinal data analyses).
- Experience translating research findings to various audiences through publications, presentations, reports, and social media.
- Experience with datasets related to foster care and/or education.

- Office environment. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events. Workdays, areas, and work hours may vary based on the department's needs.

This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee’s responsibility.
This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
