Research Compliance Coordinator Position Summary
The Research Compliance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state research regulations, institutional policies, and best practices. This position provides specialized regulatory expertise and administrative support to the UIW research community in support of several research compliance areas, including, but not limited to: protecting human subjects in research; managing conflicts of interest in research; training in the responsible conduct of research;
and education in research ethics and research compliance. The Research Compliance Coordinator reports to the Director of Research Operations.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to anticipate needs and be highly responsive to requests and inquiries.
- Ability to interact with multiple constituencies in a professional manner.
- Ability to analyze and interpret highly technical, compliance-related information.
- Expert proficiency, or aptitude, in articulating and assuring institutional compliance in a range of research compliance areas, including but not limited to human subject research, financial conflict of interest, research misconduct, and responsible conduct of research.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, high ethical standards, and compliance with applicable laws, policies, and regulations.
- Ability to organize work effectively, prioritize objectives, focus on details and outcomes, and exercise independent judgement based on an understanding of policies and procedures.
- Ability to learn web-based application management systems.
- Expertise in using office software packages, technology, and systems, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences, Social Sciences, Public or Business Administration, or other applicable research-intensive discipline.
Required Work ExperienceTwo (2) years of experience in a professional setting focused on research administration, clinical research, or research compliance with human subjects.
Preferred Qualifications- Master's Degree.
- Relevant experience in a university or government setting and familiarity with human subject research compliance issues.

Work HoursMonday through Friday 8am to 5pm with occasional extended hours as needed to meet departmental goals.
