Job Description & How to Apply Below

Two postdoctoral fellow positions are immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Chu Chen in the Department of Cellular and Integrative Physiology at the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, The University of Texas at San Antonio Health Science Center (UT Health San Antonio).

Current research projects in Dr. Chen’s laboratory focus on elucidating the cellular, molecular, and epigenetic mechanisms underlying synaptic plasticity, learning, and memory in neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI)-induced AD-like conditions.

Research in the Chen laboratory employs a broad range of state-of-the-art approaches, including molecular and cellular biology, epigenetics, electrophysiology, optical imaging, single-cell and single-nucleus RNA sequencing, proteomics, bioinformatics, and behavioral analyses. Current projects aim to identify the mechanisms driving synaptic dysfunction, neuroinflammation, and cognitive decline associated with AD and TBI-induced neurodegenerative diseases.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree in neuroscience or a related biomedical field.
Candidates with expertise in patch-clamp electrophysiological recordings are particularly encouraged to apply. Experience in multi-omics data analysis, bioinformatics, and/or neurodegenerative disease research is highly desirable. Strong communication skills, a solid publication record, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment are essential.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and will follow the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) stipend guidelines.
