Salary Range: $40,325 - $44,650/A nnualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary
The Research Science Associate II performs professional and scientific research assignments within a research core facility. This position leads, conducts or assists with the dissemination of knowledge through training in the use of high-end technology for flow cytometry and confocal microscopy. This role requires full proficiency gained through job related training and considerable on-the-job experience to perform a range of tasks.
This position takes a broad perspective to solve problems and spots new, less obvious solutions.
Core Responsibilities
- Selects, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates lab users.
- Set-ups, cleans, resets, and restocks equipment and supplies needed for the operation of a core facility
- Maintains inventory of chemicals and equipment.
- Provides guidelines for all users for the operation of flow cytometers, cell sorters and confocal microscopes; maintains accurate records of instrument usage; and develops, updates, and improves lab SOPs.
- Provides recommendations for the best technology to answer scientific questions; records observations and measurements; and compiles data.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, Vocational Training or Apprenticeship in a related field.
- Three (3) years of related work experience.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

- Master's degree in Biological Sciences, or related field.

- Usual laboratory or office conditions. Sometimes requires working with hazardous equipment or materials. May require travel off-campus and extended overnight stays. Security Sensitive. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events. Workdays, areas, and work hours may vary based on the needs of the department.
- Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations. Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Reaching overhead, at or below shoulder level.
