Research Science Associate I Salary Range

$36,894 - $40,850 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Research Science Associate II Salary Range

$40,326 - $44,650 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary

The Research Science Associate I performs entry-level professional engineering and scientific research assignments related to a particular field of work. This role acquires basic skills to perform routine tasks. For this role, work is prescribed and completed with little to moderate autonomy. This position works with either close supervision or under clearly defined procedures. This role is entry level to a research support career progression.

The Research Science Associate II performs professional-level engineering and scientific research assignments. This position leads, conducts, or assists with the dissemination of knowledge through scholarship, scientific inquiry, and creative expression. The RSA II requires full proficiency, gained through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience, to perform a range of tasks, and it takes a broad perspective to solve problems and spot new, less obvious solutions. This role identifies key issues and patterns from partial/conflicting data.

Core

Responsibilities Research Science Associate I

Performs professional research and engineering assignments toinclude performing experiments; gathering and analyzing data and samples; setting up/operating equipment; and inspects minor fabrication, erection or assembly for conformance to specifications.

Assist with lab inventory upkeep, orders, and compliance procedures.

Performs specified phases of research projects to include making and recording observations and measurements; compiles data;processes paperwork; maintains lab accounts; writes technical reports.

Trains incoming and existing students on experimental procedures and edits students' papers prior to submission for journals or for class.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Research Science Associate II

Selects, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates studentsor new lab members on experimental procedures.

Set-ups, cleans, resets, and restocks equipment and supplies needed for lab periods; maintain inventory of equipment. Assists with lab compliance procedures.
