To aid in Flyttr’smission to combat the critical threat from New World screwworm (NWS) in the United States, t the Field Trials Manager will lead the planning, coordination, execution, and evaluation of field trials supporting Flyttr’s pest management and biosecurity platforms. This role willbe responsible for translating scientific and operationalobjectivesinto well designed field activities, ensuring trials are conducted safely, consistently, andin accordance with approved protocols and applicable regulatory requirements.
Working closely with scientific, operational, regulatory, and external partners, the Field Trials Manager will oversee field trialand monitoring activities frominitialplanning through execution, data collection, analysis support, and final reporting. The role requires a strong combination of scientific understanding, project management, field operations, and stakeholder coordination. The position will be based in San Antonio, Texas, with field activities expected to cover much of the state and region.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the planning and execution of field trials supporting Flyttr’s pest management and biosecurity programs – particularly focus on NWS.
- Develop detailed field trial plans, timelines, protocols, resource requirements, and standard operational procedures, whileidentifyingpossible pitfalls.
- Ensure field activities are conducted consistently with approved study protocols, scientific objectives, and operational requirements.
- Support analysis and interpretation of field trial results in collaboration with scientific teams.
- Contribute to technical reports, presentations, and recommendations based on field trial findings.
- Maintain readiness of field equipment and ensure appropriate maintenance, calibration, inventory, and documentation.
- Work closely with EHS, regulatory, scientific, and quality teams to ensure field activities meet applicable safety and compliance standards.
- Ensure personnel participating in field activities receive appropriate training before performing assigned responsibilities.
- Maintainaccuratetrial documentation and support internal or external reviews as required.
- Serve as a key operational point of contact with government agencies, research institutions, landowners, agricultural partners, contractors, and other external stakeholders as appropriate.
- Build strong working relationships with partners involved in field trial planning and execution.
- Communicate trial objectives, schedules, responsibilities, progress, risks, and results clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the recruitment, onboarding, and training of field personnel as the program grows.
- Provide occasional weekend support as part of a rota within the team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Entomology, Biology, Ecology, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Wildlife Biology, ora related scientific discipline.
