Field Trials Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and execution of field trials supporting Flyttr’s pest management and biosecurity programs, particularly New World screwworm
• Develop field trial plans, timelines, protocols, resource requirements, and standard operating procedures
• Identify potential pitfalls and ensure field activities align with approved protocols, scientific objectives, and operational requirements
• Support analysis and interpretation of field trial results with scientific teams
• Contribute to technical reports, presentations, and recommendations based on trial findings
• Maintain field equipment readiness, including maintenance, calibration, inventory, and documentation
• Collaborate with EHS, regulatory, scientific, and quality teams on safety and compliance
• Ensure field personnel receive appropriate training
• Maintain accurate trial documentation and support internal or external reviews
• Serve as an operational point of contact for government agencies, research institutions, landowners, agricultural partners, contractors, and other stakeholders
• Build working relationships with field-trial partners
• Communicate trial objectives, schedules, responsibilities, progress, risks, and results to stakeholders
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of field personnel
• Provide occasional weekend support through team rotation
• Coordinate field trial and monitoring activities from initial planning through execution, data collection, analysis support, and final reporting

• Bachelor’s degree in Entomology, Biology, Ecology, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Wildlife Biology, or a related scientific discipline
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated experience planning, conducting, and/or managing field-based scientific research, agricultural trials, pest management programs, or similar field operations
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in dynamic field environments
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly to field locations and work outdoors in varying environmental conditions
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet applicable company driving requirements
• Master’s degree in Entomology, Biology, Ecology, Agriculture, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred
• Experience working with livestock systems and/or livestock pests highly desirable
• Experience coordinating large-scale monitoring programs for flying insects
• Experience with GIS and electronic data capture systems
• Experience with Sterile Insect Technique or other area-wide pest management programs
• Experience working within regulated research or operational environments
• Previous experience leading field teams, technicians, contractors, or seasonal personnel
• Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods and with exposure to heat, humidity, insects, uneven terrain, agricultural environments, and other field-research conditions
• Availability for regular travel and occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, or adjusted schedules
