Position Overview
BASIS Ed Texas is seeking qualified candidates for a PEIMS and State Reporting Specialist to join our team. The PEIMS and State Reporting Specialist assists with ensuring that all BASIS Charter Schools have accurate, complete, and timely reports submitted to the state/jurisdiction within their region.
Responsibilities- Work with PEIMS manager and SIS team to maintain the Power School environment, recommend system improvements, test system upgrades, plan and execute basic and advanced database functions, monitor ongoing operations and data integrity as related to state reporting.
- Troubleshoot operational and software problems. When necessary, submit and monitor technical support tickets related to system malfunctions to software vendors or state agencies.
- Conduct advanced searches and queries to support special requests from school and central office leadership.
- Routinely attend training provided by software vendor and state agency.
- Work directly with registrars, ESS coordinators, EL coordinators, and other school personnel to verify the accuracy of information reported to the state.
- Coordinate with school finance to receive, import, and verify financial information reported through PEIMS.
- Facilitate data collection from various sources and compile data when necessary to meet state or federal reporting requirements.
- Accurate data entry.
- Research and summarize technical definitions and requirements.
- Develop and deliver annual and just‑in‑time training to registrars.
- Develop and maintain registrar guidance documents including annual deadlines.
- Consult with Enrollment to ensure applications and registration practices include all required information and forms per state law.
- Assist in the development of best practices for the maintenance of physical student records and verifying that information is accurately reflected in the student information system used for reporting. Comply with all legal requirements of government regulations and agencies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Eligible to work with public charter schools in all relevant jurisdictions, including the ability to obtain a Valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card, if necessary, and is not on the Texas Do Not Hire Registry.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Excel).
- 3-5 years’ experience as a school registrar or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree or minimum of 3 years administrative experience.
- Experience with a student information system, especially Power School.
- Experience with education state reporting in any state but preferably Texas or Arkansas.
- Understanding of state‑reporting requirements related to student membership and attendance.
- Ability to effectively analyze data to improve data quality.
- Use of Student Information System (Power School).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Exceptional problem solving and organizational skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy.
- Adaptability and flexibility to manage competing priorities efficiently.
- Experience analyzing large data sets.
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to read technical specifications for data systems.
- Ability to work under strict deadlines.
