Overview

This role develops and grows sales with new and existing customers. It involves participating in a variety of focused developmental activities, assignments, and rotations over a 12‑18 month period.

Responsibilities

The incumbent is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis:

Additional detailed responsibilities include:

  • Model, promote, reinforce, and reward the consistent use of the company’s Values Based Leadership tools and processes to ensure alignment with Vision, Values, and Mission.
  • Learns the company’s culture and organizational structure; support and learn about branch operations.
  • Accurately use systems for quotes, rental, sales, reservations, and territory management.
  • Implement, sustain, and develop quality improvement processes focusing on safety, financials, operations, and customer service.
  • Build and maintain internal relationships with key support teams.
  • Collect customer information and understand needs for future sales and marketing campaigns.
  • Leverage Marketing & Sales tools to identify and sell to customers.
  • Utilize CRM to uncover opportunities from dormant, inactive, and long‑lost accounts.
  • Coordinate with branch departments to ensure customer satisfaction and communicate field issues to branch or Supply personnel as applicable.
  • Work with ISR’s to provide solutions to customers around equipment needs assessment, training, demonstrations, quotations, catalogs, credit applications.
  • Negotiate prices on equipment rentals and sales in accordance with pricing policies and procedures.
  • Drive customer engagement to local events and promotions.
  • Work safely at all times and adhere to all applicable safety policies; comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Role‑Specific Essential Functions
  • Rental:
    • Learn all functions of an Outside Sales Representative by actively participating in hands‑on training, including joint sales calls, passing leads, and opening up new accounts.
  • Supply:
    • Learn all functions of a Supply Sales Representative by actively participating in hands‑on training, including joint sales calls, passing leads, and opening up new accounts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of applicable accounting principles, budget preparation, and business acumen.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of selling techniques (prospecting, overcoming objections, closing sales).
  • Excellent selling, negotiating, and closing skills with the ability to build long‑term business relationships.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with multiple departments and various levels of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional organizational, self‑management, time‑management, and multitasking skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office products such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to compute basic arithmetic and statistical calculations.
  • Ability to interpret bar graphs and understand the implications of new information for future problem solving and decision‑making.
  • Uses logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret written information.
  • Ability to listen to and understand spoken information.
Role‑Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Rental: Demonstrated knowledge of construction equipment and the rental industry.
  • Supply: Demonstrated knowledge of supply products and the construction industry.
Requirements
  • Education:

    High school diploma or equivalent with some college coursework or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Experience:

    Three to five years of related work experience required.
  • Travel:
    Up to 5% travel may be expected; valid driver's license required.
  • Physical Requirements:

    Position involves extended periods in a stationary position; occasional movement inside the office to access office machinery, file cabinets, etc.; requires ability to communicate accurately; routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
  • Work Environment:
    Generally performed in retail, office, and construction environments; exposure to computer screens, noise, dust, grease, fumes, gases, heat, cold, and inclement weather conditions; may require working outdoors and exposure to weather extremes.
