Job Summary

The Outside Sales Representative will build and sustain long‑lasting relationships with customers within an assigned sales territory, develop and execute effective sales strategies, conduct face‑to‑face meetings, prepare estimates and bids, negotiate contracts, research market conditions, and maintain accurate sales records. The role requires extensive travel within the designated region and the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays with short notice.

Responsibilities
  • Build and sustain relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Develop and implement a sales strategy and action plans in collaboration with the Sales Manager.
  • Conduct in‑person meetings to determine customer needs, educate customers, and provide solutions.
  • Prepare estimates and bids for approval before submission to the customer.
  • Negotiate with customers to close sales and coordinate with vendors on capabilities and timing.
  • Research and communicate competitor and vendor information to management.
  • Maintain accurate records of leads, customer accounts, and sales.
  • Follow up with customers after service to assess satisfaction and gather feedback.
  • Service existing accounts and develop new accounts to increase sales volume.
  • Stay current on industry developments, company products, and technological advancements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including working in alternate roles or departments.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of a background check, including a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Successful completion of a pre‑employment drug test and a physical examination, if required.
  • Completion of Form I‑9 and participation in E‑Verify for employment eligibility verification.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Related experience in drilling water wells, water plants, pumps, and electrical controls (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) preferred.
  • Proven outside sales experience.
Skills
  • Negotiation, initiative, and persistence.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and exceptional customer service skills.
  • Understanding of engineering concepts, water chemistry, and three‑phase power.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel) and internet search.
  • Ability to set up and operate a projector and screen for presentations.
Language and Interpersonal Skills
  • Read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, technical procedures, and regulations.
  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
  • Active listening, speaking, observing, and empathizing.
  • Persuasive communication that encourages upgrades and additional products.
Mathematical Skills
  • Calculate discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, and geometric quantities.
  • Apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.
Physical Demands
  • Ascent and descent of stairs, ramps, and similar structures.
  • Standing for prolonged periods.
  • Repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements.
  • Ability to lift or move objects up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Manual dexterity for handling items and using tools.
  • Work in well‑lit, heated, and/or air‑conditioned indoor or outdoor environments in vehicles.
Work Environment
  • Office and traveling conditions involving urban and rural areas.
  • Exposure to driving, moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, vibration, wet or humid conditions, extreme heat, and noise.
  • High‑paced, high‑stress environment with potential overtime of 40‑60 hours per week.
