Description
The Department of Defense is offering a faculty research opportunity at the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command – Institute of Surgical Research (USAMRDC ISR). The role involves collaborating with USAISR engineers, developers, and research scientists on projects focused on developing medical clinical decision support systems (CDSS) with an emphasis on extended reality technologies and other translational systems.
Responsibilities- Engage in hypothesis‑driven experimental design on human factors engineering, usability testing, clinical performance testing, and medical artificial intelligence modeling aimed at combat casualty care optimization.
- Conduct clinical research utilizing augmented‑ and mixed‑reality systems, sensors, and medical devices with AI integration evaluations.
- Create innovative solutions for immersive clinical guidance systems.
- Document findings, results, and technical processes in detailed reports and presentations.
- Disseminate research through scientific journals, presentations, and technology demonstrations.
Current faculty member at an accredited institution with a Doctoral degree in Computer, Information and Data Sciences, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or other eligible discipline.
Preferred Skills- Experience conducting human subject research, including usability and clinical performance testing.
- Experience creating realistic medical, clinical, or field‑testing scenarios.
- Experimental design and evaluation skills.
- Strong technical writing skills for documentation, reports, and presentations.
Location:
San Antonio, Texas.
Start date:
immediately upon selection.
Length: twelve months, with potential extension depending on funding availability, project assignment, program rules, and participant availability.
Stipend: $ – $ yearly.
Additional provisions may include a relocation allowance, training allowance, and travel allowance.
Opportunity requires a suitability investigation/background investigation. Any offer made is considered tentative pending a favorable outcome of the investigation.
