Brief

Job Description

The Security Officer will work alternate schedules to ensure patient and staff safety within the Rehabilitation areas, Gym, Café, Chapel, and interior Courtyards.

Officers also provide walk rounds at external Courtyard areas at least twice per shift, in addition to assigned unit staff rounding.

Security Officers are fully TIPPS and CPR certified, can redirect and provide escort to patients as needed. They admit employees and visitors, patrol grounds and buildings by foot and vehicle, check for fire, damaged property, equipment, or unauthorized persons, and document findings. They respond to employee accidents, alarms, perform monthly fire extinguisher inspections, keep daily log sheets, enforce parking, traffic, security, and safety regulations, and work under moderate supervision with limited latitude for initiative.

Other duties may include disaster response, recovery, or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation, requiring alternate shift or location assignments.

Essential Job Functions (EJFs)
  • Attend work on a regular basis and may be asked to work a specific shift schedule, including rotating schedules, extended shift, and overtime in accordance with agency leave policy.
  • Admit employees and visitors to the facility grounds.
  • Check for unauthorized materials and persons entering through the front gate.
  • Perform regular and erratic patrol of all grounds by vehicle and foot.
  • Respond to all fire alarms and investigate causes to take necessary emergency action.
  • Perform monthly fire extinguisher inspections.
  • Handle after‑hour maintenance calls as needed.
  • Inform visitors of procedures and facility regulations, ensuring confidentiality and proper passes.
  • Monitor grounds for unauthorized exit attempts and for vehicle parking violations.
  • Attend and participate in all mandatory training to maintain competency and develop professionally.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including participation in disaster response or COOP activation.
