Job Summary
The Security Officer will work alternate schedules to ensure patient and staff safety within the Rehabilitation areas, Gym, Café, Chapel, and interior Courtyards. Officers provide walk rounds at external Courtyard areas at least twice per shift, escort patients as needed, and maintain a safe environment for all community members. The position requires full TIPPS and CPR certification and adherence to all institutional safety protocols.

Salary: $3,100.00 – $4,365.66 per month (monthly pay)

- Admit employees and visitors to the facility grounds and buildings.
- Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of the entire grounds and all buildings, checking for unauthorized activity and reporting incidents.
- Monitor parking and traffic violations to enforce facility policy.
- Respond to all fire alarms, investigate causes, and take emergency action as required.
- Perform monthly fire extinguisher inspections and maintain daily log sheets of activities.
- Provide walk rounds at external Courtyard areas at least twice per shift.
- Enforce parking, traffic, security, and safety regulations across the campus.
- Assist with disaster response, recovery, or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation when required.
- Attend mandatory training sessions to meet job‑competence requirements.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while upholding patient confidentiality.
- Knowledge of traffic and parking regulations.
- Knowledge of emergency reporting procedures.
- Skill in monitoring and assessing situations and determining appropriate responses.
- Ability to patrol the grounds by foot or vehicle, detect dangerous situations, and act accordingly.
- Ability to prepare concise reports for the shift supervisor.
- Ability to learn hospital buildings, grounds, and rules for admission and exit.
- Ability to apply restraint techniques when necessary.
- Ability to set up barricades in emergency or post‑incident situations.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Valid Texas driver license or a certified state‑issued driver license within 90 days of hire.
- Original certified driving record for out‑of‑state drivers, as required by HHSC Fleet Management policy.
- At least one year of regular full‑time employment.
- One year of experience in security, law enforcement, or military (preferred).
Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre‑employment drug screen, and have registry checks, including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS) and other state medical registers. Males aged 18‑25 must register with the Selective Service.
Flexibility in work hours is required; overtime and/or extended hours may be necessary.
Compliance with the HHSC immunization policy is required. Employees must be vaccinated according to their level of contact with patients. Non‑vaccinated employees may be required to wear a mask or take other protective measures.
